Photographed Index Atlas

Prepared and Written By: Dr. Adeeb Sa'd; Fish and Sea Environment Sciences Assistant Prof. in Tichreen Univ.

In Contribution with General Organization of Remote Sensing

This Environmental Atlas classifies "economical" fish types in the Syrian regional waters using some remote sensing techniques in contribution with Tichreen Univ. in Lattakia.

The survey examine the "economical" fish living in shallow sea water environment down to 300 meters deep; even 600 meters sometimes.

The research depended on the methodology of incorporating traditional studies used in searching for fish aggregations and recording fishing and geographical circumstances, with recent remote sensing techniques by using spatial image to specify the coast topography, water surface temperature, and shallow sea streams effecting fish existence. In this atlas you can recognize settler, immigrant, and almost extinct fish kinds in the Syrian regional waters.

This index includes natural photographs for 92 boney-fish kinds belong to 35 fish families. For optimal remote sensing application in developing marine traps, we have to know - in the first stage - fish kinds, its environmental habits, its nutrition behavior, and the major fishing methods, and this is the goal of this atlas, in addition to the gained benefits by fishing amateurs and professionals and the sea itself.
